Music/Dance/Theatre programme
INSA Centre Val de Loire offers students the opportunity to combine artistic practices (music, dance and theatre) with engineering studies through a special training programme. To obtain this status, students must be enrolled in another public training institution (Regional Conservatoire, Departmental Conservatoire, School of Music, etc.).
Most students in this programme are enrolled at INSA in their 1st year, but students enrolled directly at INSA in their 2nd and 3rd years can also apply to the programme coordinator for enrolment.

Timothy TRAN, pianist,
in his 4th year of Industrial Systems Engineer
— I chose to study at INSA Centre Val de Loire mainly because of the Music/Dance/Theatre programme and the wide range of clubs and associations it has to offer. I’ve been playing the piano for 14 years, and this course lets me combine my passion for music with my engineering studies. One of the best things about the programme is its flexibility, which has allowed me to work on a variety of musical projects. On top of that, the Blois Departmental Conservatoire provides first-class training, which allows me to constantly improve.
This course has given me the opportunity to meet other musicians, join a band and perform in various concerts. It’s been a very rewarding experience! Blois is also a pretty lively place to be, with plenty of concerts and other artistic events.
Being able to grow both culturally and artistically while studying for my INSA engineering degree has been a real opportunity for me, and I can only urge you to join us if you have a passion for engineering and music!
MUSIC AND DANCE PERFORMANCE (MDI) PROGRAMME
The MI programme offers students the opportunity to take advantage of special arrangements to combine their engineering studies with a professional artistic project.
Conditions d’admission
being accepted into INSA (information: www.groupe-insa.fr)
being accepted into the Blois Departmental Conservatoire or the Bourges Departmental Conservatoire
having completed at least the 3rd cycle of training at a conservatoire
Students who wish to enrol in the MDI programme in their first year must indicate this when applying online on the Ministry’s Parcoursup portal: they must choose the “Music-study” or “Dance-study” programme.
Participation in the programme and arrangements
The MDI programme set up by INSA Centre Val de Loire provides students with a personalised programme based on a tripartite agreement signed by the student, the director of studies and the programme coordinator.
Depending on the student’s level and the constraints imposed by their artistic practice, special arrangements and support may be offered, such as:
- an extended study programme: preparatory cycle spread over three years, or special arrangements for the engineering cycle
- tutoring (teacher and/or student)
- an allowance for absences related to their artistic practice (exams, performances, etc.)
- flexible timetable: students are not bound to a group of tutorial or practi

Irma BRAULT, dancer,
in her 5th year of Industrial Risk Management
— I’ve been dancing since I was three years old and enrolled at INSA Centre Val de Loire straight after my baccalauréat. In my 2nd year of the preparatory cycle, once I’d arrived on the Bourges campus, I enrolled at the Conservatoire to take classical and modern jazz dance classes in a high-level academic environment.
The partnership between the Bourges Conservatoire and INSA Centre Val de Loire allowed me to combine scientific studies with my passion for the arts. The training I’ve received has been excellent, in a supportive environment where I’ve been able to develop my skills, which enabled me to obtain my CEC (Certification d’Études Chorégraphiques - Choreographic Studies Certificate) in classical ballet and modern jazz.
The Music/Dance/Theatre programme has also given me the chance to work on a number of projects, including annual shows, a performance in the INSA hall on International Women’s Day, a dance competition, putting together a show at the Maison de la Culture in Bourges… Year after year, this programme gives me the chance to pursue my passion for art while still keeping a good work-life balance as a student.
